California car accidents: 1 dead in Ahaheim crash

Losing a loved one is a painful experience for California residents or anyone across the nation, regardless of the circumstances. However, when people die in car accidents caused by the negligence of another driver, it is even more devastating since the accident could have been avoided. An Anaheim family is dealing with the loss of a husband and father following a three-car crash on July 30.

A sergeant from the Anaheim Police Department reported that officers and firefighters were dispatched to a neighborhood following an accident. A 34-year-old man was returning home in his vehicle, accompanied by his pregnant wife and their young child. As he was turning his vehicle into his driveway, he was struck by another car, driven by an 18-year-old man. A third car involved in the accident was parked at the time of the collision.

According to the Orange County coroner's office, the 34-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. A passenger in the car that caused the accident, a 17-year-old girl, was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment in stable condition. Officers were also investigating to determine whether that vehicle was involved in street racing before the accident.

The 18-year-old driver had originally been detained for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. However, he has been arrested for gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated and felony DUI. He also faces a charge of driving without a license and has bail set at $100,000.

Families that have experienced such a tragic loss due to negligence in car accidents may choose to file a wrongful death lawsuit. Nothing can bring back their loved ones, but a successful result in litigation can provide compensation for funeral expenses and damages for the pain and grief suffered in the loss. A California personal injury attorney can help families evaluate the situation and work toward achieving the best outcome possible in the proceedings.
